Spending Money You Shouldn't!  Don't spend a nickel unless you get a dime back!
Regardless of what is shown on many of the current home shows, very few improvements net more money in a sale than the cost of the improvement.  Kitchen and bathroom remodels are expensive; consider limiting investments to cleaning, paint, new knobs and faucets.  If the sinks aren't badly chipped and the cabinets aren't falling apart, find a way to salvage them.  One of the best things you can do to prepare your home is make sure closets and cabinets are no more than two-thirds full and the house is clean and neat, inside and outside.
